ENGINEERING MANAGEROur client is one of today's leading edge technology companies involved in the design, manufacture and technical excellence of high specification products for the research and design industry. To continue their push for excellence they now need to recruit an experienced Engineering Manager to direct and Manage the Research and Development team ensuring new product introductions are made to market specification, budget and timescales. This role will encompass full technical authority for all test system design and compliance issues, both in R&D and Operations Engineering. Responsibilities will also include : Implementing current and long range research and development objectives, plans, and policies, as directed by VP R&D; Ensuring the technical vision for product range is adhered to and plans for the implementation of new technical projects or product lines; Continually searching for and utilizing internal and external technologies to match the strategic direction of the business; Managing Research and Development team to balance resources, costs and delivery dates for most cost effective use of staff and outside resources; Working with Product and Sales Management to discern competitiveness and applicability of new technologies; Creating technical budgets, allocating resources, and determining schedule of product releases or project deadlines; Meeting monthly spending targets and project spending targets as defined; Having a good working relationship with finance team to monitor and managing the budgets; Leading R+D team to deliver innovative design that meets or exceeds cost - benefit - timing goals of each project (whether new product, product enhancement or product extension) and Identifying and implementing strategies to provide demonstrated improvement against key measures. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering with significant management experience of engineering functions and an understanding of electronics, systems, mechanical, mechatronics, software and hardware engineering with a specialism in one field. You must also be able to d emonstrate experience working in a fast paced, matrixed environment satisfying multiple customers and be self-motivated, able to contribute without a large staff, and with experience in fast moving environment. Understanding and management of engineering compliance issues (eg. UL, CE, RoHS, WEEE) with a good working knowledge of finance and key metrics as they relate to engineering disciplines. Excellent Communication Skills – logical and organized and a proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity is essential.
