Process Engineer

Our client has their headquarters and prototype facility are currently located in Cambridge, and have already commenced on the build of a new 7,000sqm manufacturing facility based in Dresden. The prototype clean room was the first of its kind in the world and the technology and processing methods developed at Cambridge will now be transferred to the new facility. Key to the process transfer is the provision of a well understood and defined process which involves the deposition of multiple thin film polymer layers using various deposition techniques as well as the development of current processes to integrate into second generation products. They are now seeking to recruit an experienced Thin Film Process Engineer to be based in Cambridge.

Main responsibilities will include: Demonstrating practical deposition skills with specific tool experience on sputter deposition, vacuum deposition and spin coating; Providing information and understanding of the key parameters related to process control; Defining and documenting the current process to the required level of detail; Integrating with Process and Engineering groups to help understand daily requirements; Providing relevant technical process knowledge to allow the future development of key processes and Understanding and advising on the principles behind other deposition methods: inkjet print, spray coating.

Ideally Degree qualified with at least 5 years experience in a relevant manufacturing environment with strong problem solving skills, the ability to approach tasks in a structured manner and the tenacity to resolve ongoing process issues. You must be able to demonstrate a good understanding and working knowledge of polymer materials and metal films and become involved in and lead continuous improvement teams, providing process knowledge and understanding to help resolve yield failures. Previous experience of planning and implementing relevant experiments to help optimise deposition processes and of developing operator/technician training regime monitoring system to enable the equipment uptime to be optimised. Develop production control methods/SPC and also relevant data collection methods .
