Manufacturing Engineer – Tooling Solutions

Our client is a long established provider of fabrication services and specialist machining of large components for the Medical, Process Plants and Research & Development industries. They now seek to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Engineer (Tooling Solutions) to optimise the efficient and effective use of all machine tools in order to provide the best and most cost effective service to all customers (internal and external) maximising profitability.

Main responsibilities will include:

Identifying, reviewing, proposing, agreeing and implementing new methods, procedures, equipment, etc. to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of products, machine tools and tooling, thus maximising profitability: Compiling and checking CNC programmes for items manufactured; Completing front-end activities for suitable contracts including raising of sales orders, design review, approval of non-coded requisitions for contracts; identifying, specifying, agreeing and implementing jigs and fixtures for items manufactured in order to increase efficiency and the effective use of machine tools thereby maximising profitability; Liaising with the customer and the relevant departments within the company to resolve any queries or problems endeavouring to maintain good relationships at all times; Providing best possible service to meet customer requirements and expectations; Preparing estimates and proposals for appropriate enquiries from customers.

Ideally the applicant should have an HNC in Mechanical engineering or a related subject but experience is more important. Previous experience of basic manufacturing techniques, e.g. pressing, fabrication, workshop, machining skills and process knowledge would be useful. Additionally basic project management experience gained preferably on the job in a small batch manufacturing company is highly desirable along with the ability to interact confidently with customers and suppliers.
