There
are three popular formats used for CV writing:
Reverse chronological
The most simplest and popular. Beginning with
your most recent position or qualification,
and moving back through your career or education.
Functional
Ideal for contractors and consultants, or any
career - which may have gaps, this type of CV
focuses on your expertise, highlighting the
skills you have developed and utilized in your
career. This format concentrates less on chronological
progression and more on outlining the candidates
abilities.
Predictive
This layout allows you to tailor your own skills
to those sought by an employer when applying
for one particular role. It is used to create
a favourable comparison between your experience
and a set of specific skills. It would be impractical
to adopt this format when embarking on a wide
ranging or prolonged job hunt.
In most circumstances,
we advise candidates to use the Reverse Chronological
format.
